The Tale of the Seasons is an editorial, conceptual and thematic exploration of Giacomo Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly. Separated into four sections, each chapter of the opera book explores a specific season in relation to Japan’s cultural background and to the storyline.

The development of timeless design elements within the grid, image style and typography allowed each chapter to explore a plurality of distinct themes and motifs of Japanese culture while maintaining a cohesive structure, ultimately enabling the seamless fusion of the seasonal cultural backdrop and the opera’s touching story.
